Hi bro.

if you dispute the jatukam story of nakon thamarat as merely a story, then what makes u so sure that Jatukam is Vishnu?
There are no incarnations of jatukam in the 10 incarnations of vishnu that i have heard of, so where did you get your sources from? =)

http://www.templenet.com/beliefs/dasavatar.htm

Cheers.

bro slippers, from my understanding of Hinduism. this religon is so old that there is no fix sources or story. there is even no fix source of how this religon started. i do not know about the legend of Jatukam. but i know that Vishnu is the 'maintenance' of the world (braham the creater and siva the destoryer). they are call the holy '3' of hinduism. as Vishnu is the 'maintener' of this world, almost every good things are incarnation of Vishnu. i have read before that some Vishnu followerw believe that Buddha is also 1 of the incarnation of Vishnu. and also Jesus!!!! hahaha, its true.

I have heard those before, but not that of Jatukam being one of the manifestations of Lord Vishnu.
Which is why i clarified with bro v.lover.

The 2500 Leela is mass chanted in Wat Sutat. It is consider a old amulet (49 years) but cheap and good due to many high monks mass chanted! :)

i don't know if Jatukam is a incarnation of Vishnu or not. actually, i don't even know about Jatukam hehehee. what i mean is that there are many differ version for hinduism myth. so might think Jatukam is, some might think not.

In SG...those temple do not give out amulets often...depends on the occasions. So...most ppl wld chao (in nicer term, BUY usually is refered as CHAO or RENT) over counter. But of course, the price is steeper than chaoing from thailand's WAT. BUt take it as a form of donation lor...

They do general blessings to devotees...but....house, cars??? Er...that i dunno. Why the need to bless car???? perhaps other bros can explain more..

Why the need to bless car???? perhaps other bros can explain more..
how much to chow over counter? let say a somdej.. about how much normally? :)

The thing amulet collectors worry about is encasing them in plastic. in sg mostly are those lousy skilled ones.. only a few reliable one..

the often damage ur amulet while paoing plastic.. u noe the chorofloam they used to seal the plastic? yeap.. often the chorofloam touches ur amulet... metal amulets still okay.. but clay and powder ones den chiam liao :D

Yes, the one you described is just one of the 2 Pure Lands of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

There are two places seen as the Pure Lands of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, one in India and one in China. It is at the Chiuhua Mountain, one of the four most famous mountains in China. It is located in Anhui Province, eastern China. A Korean monk named Chin Chao-chueh once lived there with his white dog. Some villagers came to the mountain and discovered his crude, ascetic lifestyle, and they built a temple for him in which he could carry out his spiritual cultivation. At that time, the person who owned the mountain was a rich old man whom everyone called "Elder Min." He was a devoted Buddhist, and when he learned that a holy man had been living on his mountain, he promptly invited him for a meal. During the meal, Chin asked Elder Min for a piece of land to build a larger temple. Elder Min agreed, but he teased the monk by saying, "You may have as much land as you can cover with the shadow of your robe." Chin took off his robe and threw it up into the air, and its shadow covered the whole mountain. Amazed by this display of supernatural power, Elder Min happily agreed to donate the whole mountain to the monk.

It is said that during the day Chin gave lectures on Buddhism to his disciples and lay followers, but at night he also taught ghosts and suffering souls in hell. Therefore, people believed that Chin was a transformation of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and they built a temple on the mountain to commemorate him after he died. Chiuhua Mountain thus became this bodhisattva's Pure Land in China.

The other Pure Land is in India at the Kharadiya Mountain, near the ancient city of Gaya, ninety-six kilometers southwest of modern Patna. The Buddha once gave a lecture about Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva on this mountain. Just before he began to speak, all sorts of incredible things happened: clouds made fantastic formations around the mountain, and the people in the audience saw themselves decorated with flowers, jewels, and other ornaments. The radiance of the jewels shone in every direction to the Pure Lands of other buddhas. Then, the Buddha told the people why all this was happening.

i like this buddha more since young.. he save ghost from hell one.. very good :)

In the Buddhist concept, hell is one of the six destinations in the cycle of reincarnation. Souls are punished there for the crimes or sins they committed in previous incarnations. There are many different levels in hell for various kinds of punishment. Contrary to the Western concept of eternal punishment in hell, souls can be reborn in another realm once their punishments have been completed. However, even though they have received their punishments, some people may still not have become better people for it or fully repented for serious crimes committed in previous lives, so they may be reborn as animals or insects.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva vowed that as long as there was still one suffering soul in hell, he would not attain buddhahood. Since there are always many souls in hell, Ksitigarbha has a lot of work to do! However, because of his great compassion, the bodhisattva still vowed to save them all. He does not want to see people being punished in hell and then committing still more crimes in their next lives. In addition to suffering souls in hell, the bodhisattva also helps living beings in other realms: humans, celestial beings, asuras, hungry ghosts, and animals and insects. He hopes that by teaching all these creatures, he will be able to stop them from committing more crimes, and thus help them to end their constant suffering.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva';s Great Vow:

"????????????????????"
"If the Hell is not empty; I will not attain Buddhahood."

Namo Bodhisattva Kishitigarbha Mahasattva!

03-10-2005, 09:22 PM
wow, nice to see so many thai amulets collectors in this forum. just to share some of my experience in amulet collecting.
Practically when i buy amulets i always ask about the following
1) maker of the amulet and name of temple
2) year of production
3) material used
4) katha for the amulet.
So for example, simple information on whether the amulet is produced by the LP in the 1st place or not was be known. if not go back home do research 1st then buy. A lot of thai amulets are made of materials like baked clay, sand, herb powder, ashes etc. So by knowing the year, you check it with the
colour (you dont expect a 10 year old amulet made of baked clay still look fresh white right??)
texture (old amulets made of above mentioned materials usually have a smooth and shiny surface due to age of the amulet)
dryness ( check the cracks and see if the cracks have branches to it. usually the old the amulet the more slim and fine branches of cracks to it due to the loss of moisture of the material)
sound ( old and dry amulets when you knock it on the a glass table got the "tick tick tick" sound also becos of the loss of moisture)
Those who are new or infamiliar to the collection of amulets, my suggestion si that you dont go for expensive stuffs made by the likes of LP Parn, LP Toh or any other famous guru monks that has passed away or any competition winning pieces.
Reason is simple
1) its expensive
2) how you know its efficacious?? dont forget competition pieces only judge on the design and authenticity of the amulet and not the efficaciousness of the amulet
3) For old amulets do you know the katha for it?? Different LP got different way of praising, asking for blessing and/or praying to the amulet.
Therefore if you really want those efficacious amulets which is for protection, wealth, metta etc, my suggestion to you is to get the lastest batch available produced by reputable LP who is still alive like LP Koon, LP Kasem etc. These amulets usually cost somewhere from S$50 to S$100. Its cheap, its authentic and its efficacious and usually less fakes around because no market value and that real ones are still in supply.
Similiarly, for those real serious collectors, if you are willing to pay S$1k++ to S$6.5K for a somdej, my suggestion is that you might as well go to the temple where the current LP specialising in the particular area you wish blessing for, ask him to make one for you through temple "donations" it will be more worth it. 1st its efficacious and authentic, 2nd its the one and only in the world made specially for you, 3rd if you wat to sell it, it will worth way more than those in the market just for the very reason in (1) especially if you have photo together with the LP.
For those people who want to go to bedok Palilai to get amulets for metta, especially for woman, i suggest that you dont go. Just to prove how often i frequent there, the monk's "put" is placed in the inner hall in the air conditioned room where he does his blessings. The amulets are placed inside a tin on the right hand side of where the monk sits and the monks go for their break or lunch at at about 12pm to 2pm. So no monks will be in the room to stop you from looking at his collection. However, as i say forget about going to temple to get amulets because those monks in the temple will tell you that every amulet is real. To them, the amulet is used to serve as a rememberance of the presence of buddha or whoever the amulet is. Most of these amulets are "returned" to the temple by people. i shall not comment whether its efficacious, but for sure these amulets wont help you to get better luck with girls, gambling or fighting.
Finally, to all those collectors just like, if your amulet isnt bringing you the desired effect, return it to the temple or give to someone else. The amulet maybe blessed by the LP with the highest mediating ability, but if your good karma isnt enough to unleash its ability its fated. So give it to someone else and let him get the blessing instead.
So sorry for the long post. Got too excited when talking about thai amulets. hope you guys dont mind :)

Hi bros,

Since today is 'chu yi' 1st lunar of the month. Went to Kancanarama to pray pray. Temple was renovating so a bit inconvenience. After praying, I saw their counter offering amulets for chaoing. I noticed one LP Thuat by Arjan Phoon for $80. But below that there is another LP Thuat also by Arjan Phoon but for only $28. Was wondering why the difference??? Can any bros verify?

Cheers

..s focusing on closing us..

however i taken to a fancy to a smaller one in the showglass... i think by LP Hin..about 15 years old.. the more i look the more i like it and eventually took it.. @ $88...

any brothers out here have any experience with this FGH?

my friend also took a $88 piece... on the same day, he went hair cut and got his ears cut(minor)... ?! issit a sign or what?

Hi JackyLee

Bro.. no offence ..take my word with a pinch of salt..

I never like going to shops to buy. Ex is one thing.. fake or real u also duno. Their main idea is to sell it to u and make a profit.

I ever saw 30+ yrs somdej only for 20 bucks from private collectors (if your piority to choosing a amulet is age) :). Or you can chow from temples yourself. Old and famous does not mean its good for wearing.

Your friend had a cut thing im not sure but i heard some people say because u wear a amulet, its trying to clean your sin... so you kena small stuffs like cuts.. lose a few dollar.. rather u kena bang car and die right? den maybe after the 'cleansing' your life would be smoother :)

true...if im not wrong either...it shld be considered at 2 different set only.

for eg...im wearing ganesh, kp & sivali on chain....takrut & pladkit in pocket....so it is considered as 2 sets...

Well Bro evo,I think Im late to ans your question. :)
Aniway...I had brought my amulets (The 1 I bought for $220..sian) to check with others,a guy who sell amulets too above the hawker center...err dunnoe the shop num but its all the way to the end and can see the Shi Ma Luo Temple jus opp. I showed him...he say its not wat la Krang 1 and said its made by some factory. I was fumming mad...to think i still talk so nicely to the boss who sold me. Aniway I dun blame him....he also making a living. Well, the uncle said to tk back $ is impossible ( Ya I also know) jus hope he will change something for me. I went back, hoping he will change....then he started telling some crap stories abt his past work experience.....KAOz!!! I was gonna be late for appt liao loh.......cut story short..I rem he showed me 1 LA Hu(SpEll Wrongly ba), aniway its the round piece kind and its with tian shen on the other side. He said it before that 1 cost $200++ too....so i ask to change for that...he LL change for me.....I tk and fly to my appt. Later i went back to the hawker center uncle shop and show the uncle wat I changed to..he say its ok lah....coz LA HU is to wear to keep Xiao Ren away 1. no harm wearing, jus that the previous amulet is not real as he said. aniway...after i got it....i jus put it beside me while driving coz i was already wearing 1 amulet. And good things really happend that night. (Not Bonking ah!) Issues which keep bothering me for the past few days....hmmm.....must keep it liao..haa. :) Ya for all bros infor....that uncle really got Lots of good suff..he showed me alot of his private collection which was not on the shelves...wah!!!! He told me he dun hv $ in bank but all the amulets can easily fetch him $100K + if he wanna sell it....but he say all are exp 1 and not all ppl here know the value....thats y its not on the shelves,so he rather sell it to thai where the ppl there really know. DG,

Don't need to be preoccupied with the even-ness or odd-ness of amulets that you are wearing, when i was in the army, i wore 2 amulets all the time on one string necklace.

Its really a matter of personal preference.

What makes more sense to you?
The number of amulets on you or the teachings/reminders of the Buddha that are more important?

Have a good weekend.

i have to agree on this one!~~ what u wear is secondary....1stly...the wearer must be happy & comfortable of what he/she is wearing...
i have a reservist mate...whole body full of sakyants & he wear abt 8-9 butterfly amulets on his neck.... and mind you...not those small ones...most of them very big size...wrist braclet of abt another kinda butterflys.....his 10 fingers...out of those.... 6-7 fingers oso got butterfly amulets.... see him wearing....i oso feel heart pain for him....neck humping due to the weight...

many of us told him....butterfly amulets is commercialized lah... many fake lah....too much not good lah....but then again...he like it wor...he claims that butterfly amulets had indeed helped him alot when he was facing a downturn.... so what can we say??

so i guess...he happy can liao...why bother abt other ppl? :D

Guess its really different people got different taste and style. Years ago, when i just started collecting amulets, the popular amulet that people used to wear to avoid misfortunes and mishaps is pakawan, nowadays people wear change liao, they prefer jatukam or pidta maha. Funny, how come nobody mention about banjapaki?? shouldnt it be the beginning of all collections??

http://www.geocities.com/frenofsmackeroo_2/LPKoon14.jpg

The monk on the amulet itself is LP Khun himself. He is the only monk by far that squats down like he did on the medallion. The back of the medallion i believe is the temple logo, doesnt look like any yants to me. Anyway your maintenance on the medallion is good. After so long the medal still havent turn dark bronze yet or is it the lighting effect?? :) Anyway you are suppose to wear it not keep it. The medallion he gives you doesnt worth much, but its most probably very efficacious for wealth and especially so in business dealings. LP Khun has been in bad health in recent years and is hard to seek his blessings nowadays so keep your medallion well.

those interested to know abt SOmdej or Chinabanchron...take a look at this website (http://www.thailandamulets.com/) It will give a rough story of the early 5 batches of amulets.... & the story of Somdej Phra Puttajarn & his Katha chinabanchorn

Bro, u shld go get your amulet cased in plastic, since its a metal rian (amulet), its alrite to use plastic, lesser chance of damage. Then wear it on a chain or clip it on ur shirt, chest pocket.
The Sangha, community of monks are considered to be part of the triple gems and their images shouldn't be worn below waist level.

I got this piece from a Thai soldier who was on very good terms with me when I was in Thailand for my NS many years ago. He had this amulet with him all the time.
I wasn't really keen on amulets there and then so I did not take care of it. I even lost this piece when I shifted house. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't find it. Recently, it appeared out of nowhere while I was browsing some of my old stuffs and I'm really interested to know what the Thai soldier has given me. It might not be valuable but it meant something to me as I've lost contact with this Thai friend.

Picture: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/takero77/album?.dir=/3c69

Description: An old monk squatting on a pig with some scriptures on the pig's body. The monk rest his chin on his left hand and crosses his right hand across his chest. Two things that look like money bags to me are on both sides of the monk with scriptures written on the bags too.

I know the pic are very badly taken but it's the best I could manage. Can anyone advise or provide some brief idea what amulet is this? At least I know what my friend gave me.

Thank you.

The amulet should be LP Koon, the trademark yant and image of himself are what led me to this assumption. but as there are many amulets that are chanted by LP Koon or even made by others but chanted by him, that it is difficult for me to tell u more details just by looking at the amulet.=)

I bought my Jatukam and Buddha Sattawa from the same seller, your friend Ken. Perhaps I PM you the price as I dun know if he minds me sharing the price here..

As for the Phra Kring (Actually I don't know the name of the amulet and authenticity), I tried asking here but the image was too blur for bros to recognise it.. I got it for about SGD$110 to $130 (Can't really remember) at Fu Lu Shou's Sarm Somdej Artefacts Pte Ltd (It no longer exist when I visited last Sat)...

Now I place the Phra Kring on my desk in my office as I've always wanted a statuette on my desk, but can't afford one at the moment. When I have the budget, I think I'll get a Jatukam statuette or Tiger amulet to put it on my desk... heh heh heh... :D

I'll bring it home and try to scan it.. however given the dark colour, I doubt it'll be a successful scan.. no harm trying though....

My mom asked her friend to bring back something from Thailand, knowing that I like Thai amulets... It resembles a scroll with lotsa writings on it, nicely curled up and tucked into a small tube-like bottle with 2 rings for hanging on a chain.. will try to take a pic or scan and post it here...

Thats known as a Takrut, or u can call it a "Fu" in chinese terminology. The writings within are the yant scripts that are written for specific purposes. PLease DO NOT open up the scroll. The takrut is useless after that, as a general rule of thumb, the written script written within would determine if you are able to wear the takrut below your waist, its a sign of respect so if you are unsure, just wear it on your shirt pocket or neck if you have a chain.=)

As promised, tried scanning the kring with casing on but the effect is less than desirable.. so mustered some courage (I've not tried taking out any casing before) and open up the casing...

I noticed some Thai wordings at the back of the "lotus seat" and some scripture scribblings at the base of the "lotus seed"... don't know what those are for though...

I am unable to view the scripts at the bottom and back of the amulet due to the poor imagery. No worries, since u are wearing it and it has protected u well, theres no real need to verify where it is from.

There is a circular symbol at the base.. Can't make out what is is but it definitely isn't a wheel.. looks more like a curled up Koala or oversized mouse... hahaha...

For the Loop Om, I don't know what it's for but it kinda attracted me when I first set sight on it... I was scared of the red letters initially bit can't help thinking of it... so called the seller and arrange to buy it...

Thailand is indeed a mystical land, full of interesting beliefs... I didn't know that they have traditional Taoist rituals with mediums piercing their bodies with sharp knives and swords, together with displays of Chinese's deities like Guan Gong, the Black and White Wu Chang etc... Entrance Fee is S$5

Inside you see many big buddhas and plenty of amulets, all in all, 3 storeys of them, big and small figurines.

What caught my eye was the 2 Feet tall Naga just near the main entrance. Its a rare and beautiful sight.

My Opinion of the Famous Phra Khun Paen & Kuman Thong

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b62/Wolf_Doc/PhraKhunPaen12set.jpg

This is the RARE COLLECTORS' Set of 12 Amulets, Thailand's most FAMOUS Phra Khun Paen Amulets for Gambling Luck, Sixth Sense and Opposite Sex attraction!!

Out of traditional Buddhist Amulets in Thailand, the Phra Khun Paen Amulets stand out as exquisitely for the favor of the young. Khun Paen Amulets are much described among the Thai men for super attraction power over opposite sex and the Sixth Sense for protection over bodily harms and unbeatable Luck for Gambling.

It is always mentioned that a Thai woman will instantly cast jealousy and suspicion if she found out that her boy friend has ONE Khun Paen Amulet as his personal possession. Be very careful because this set is complete 12 distinct Khun Paen icons!!!

The Story and icons of Phra Khun Paen, 17 Century Soldier, Gambler and Playboy of Suphan Buri, Central Thailand

Phra Khun Paen Buddha Image (Left most image in first Picture)

Out of 12 icons of Amulets, termed as Phra Khun Paen Images, only Two images carry the image of Lord Buddha. The image of Single Buddha seated under the pointed Gables in Winning of Mara Position or seated with his right hand touching the ground. This single Buddha image is the image that Khun Paen had made and distributed in his later life to clean the sins of his lurid, luxurious and abundant life of wars, gambling and women.

However this image of Buddha under the pointed gable is considered as having powers to maintain one's official position, as through out his life Khun Paen has never lost the favor of the King. This image is shown as the left most images in the first picture of three amulets.

Size: 4.9 cm H x 2.8 cm W (Pointed rectangular)

Phra Khun Paen with Fighting Cocks (Middle Left image in first Picture)

Image of Khun Paen seated underneath Pointed gable and holding Fighting cock (s) in his hand. This image has two versions, some images with only one cock in his left hand while some are two cocks. This image is collected for Gambling Luck.

Size: 4.9 cm H x 2.7 cm W (Pointed rectangular)

Phra Khun Paen inspecting Market (Middle Right image in first Picture)

Rounded rectangular image of Khun Paen holding an umbrella and inspecting the Market. As a high-ranking soldier in the Army of the King, Khun Paen was given right for managing and taxation of commercial zones in the province of Suphanburi. This amulet is generally collected for luck in commerce.

Size: 5.9 cm H x 2.8 cm W (Rounded rectangular)

Phra Khun Paen in pairs or "Together Forever" Amulet (Right most image in the first Picture)

This image is strange in styling as two Buddha images underneath pointed Gables are combined as pair. This amulet is made of baked red clay and censecreated and distributed by Wat Phai Arun Temple of Ung-thong.

This image is suppose to be given to the lover of the Phra Khun Paen Amulet wearer meaning for happly together of two persons in same behaviors having complete harmonious lives for ever.

In my initial findings, this image is not included in the set. However after the advices of the experienced collectors, this image is added to make the 12th image to the existing 11 images produced and distributed by Wat Phra Sri Temple.

Size: 3 cm H x 4 cm W (Two combined Pointed rectangular images)

Phra Khun Paen holding Kuman Thong looking at Cock fight (Left most image in second Picture)

Kuman Thong means "Master Gold" in Thai. Kuman Thong is Phra Khun Paen's most favorite son. He carried him every where. In this picture, Phra Khun Paen and his son enjoying the Cock Fight under the pointed gable. This image is mostly collected for fertility (to conceive a son), gambling luck and family harmony.

Size: 5.2 cm H x 2.7 cm W (Pointed rectangular)

Phra Khun Paen praying over Kuman Thong's Body (Middle left image in second Picture)

Kuman Thong died at very young age. Phra Khun Paen in great grief, prayed for the boy's spirit be with him at all times. It is said that the boy's spirit is with his father at all times after Phra Khun Paen?s wish made. The boy?s spirit supported his father with a profound sixth sense, enabling him for more winnings at gambling and cock fights, prevention of harm and danger in the war and attraction for many women.

The Kuman thong images are well collected for its sixth sense protection, against harm, gambling luck and opposite sex attraction.

Size: 4.9 cm H x 2.8 cm W (Pointed rectangular)

Phra Khun Paen and Kuman Thong Spirit riding over Skeleton (Middle right image in second Picture)

It was told that Kuman Thong Spirit has powerful influence over many lesser spirits. Phra Khun Paen had taken the advantage of the Kuman thong spirit by commending over the army of dead during his many fighting against Burmese enemy.

In this image, Phra Khun Paen holding a knife in his right hand while holding Kuman thong in his left, riding a dead spirit. This image is collected for sixth sense and for protection of body harm and fire arm.

Size: 4.9 cm H x 2.9 cm W (Pointed rectangular)

Phra Khun Paen and Kuman Thong Spirit riding over Three Skeletons (Right most image in second Picture)

It was told that Kuman Thong Spirit has powerful influence over many lesser spirits. Phra Khun Paen had taken the advantage of the Kuman thong spirit by commending over the army of dead during his many fighting against Burmese enemy.

In this image, Phra Khun Paen holding a knife in his right hand while holding Kuman thong in his left, riding three dead spirits representing his army of dead. This image is collected for sixth sense and for protection of body harm and fire arm.

Size: 5.2 cm H x 2.9 cm W (Pointed rectangular)

Phra Khun Paen taking Nang Wan to the War (Left most image in third Picture)

Nang Wan or "Ms. Sweet" is the Khun Paen's most favorite girlfriend/ wife. He is so fond of her that when he went for war, he brought her to the front with him. In this Amulet, Khun Paen holding Nang Wan riding on a horse. This amulet is collected for sexual attraction.

Size: 4.8 cm H x 2.9 cm W (Curved triangular)

Phra Khun Paen and Nang Wan or Khun Paen with one wife (Center left image in third Picture)

Nang Wang is depicted as the sexiest lady of Suphan Buri in 13 Century. In this amulet, seated Khun Paen put Nang Wan on his laps. This amulet is collected for sexual attraction and lustful married life.

Size: 5 cm H x 3 cm W (Pointed rectangular)

Khun Paen with two wives (Center right image in third Picture)

Apart from Nang Wan, Khun Paen enjoyed a lustful life with many other ladies. In this Amulet, Khun Paen and Kuman Thong underneath the pointed gable are embraced by two ladies and enjoying the cock fight. This amulet is collected for sexual attraction and lustful polygamous life.

Size: 4.6 cm H x 2.5 cm W (Pointed rectangular)

Khun Paen with three voluptuous wives (Right most image in third Picture)

In this Amulet, Khun Paen underneath the pointed gable are embraced by three very voluptuous ladies and enjoying the cock fight. This amulet is collected for sexual attraction and lustful polygamous life.

Size: 4.7 cm H x 2.7 cm W (Pointed rectangular)

Note on Phra Khun Paen Icons

Phra Khun Paen images stand out in regular Buddhist Amulets in Thailand, because only Two images in this 12 set carried the images of Buddha. All remaining 10 Amulets are images of Khun Paen himself, depicting some moments in his life. Stories of Khun Paen can be found in Thai literature, as short poems and stories.

However many temples in the central area of Thailand produces Phra Khun Paen amulets as their followers adore them and most temple produced them to meet popular demand among the young. After drying the baked lime tablets, Amulets went through blessing retrials by the monks citing Buddhist sermons. However, as most amulets do not contain the image of Buddha, the final "Anakazar" rite citing the Buddha's utmost enlightenment is not performed over those amulets.

I guess it is important not to believe so much in the stories, as stories are always changing and adapted to suit man's requirements that they have lost half of their truth by the time they get around.=P
