Sorry I don't fully agree to your statement. In my 2+ years observation there, the prettier and younger ones do not really make good income as compared to the older, less pretty ones. At the end of it, it is how the singers handle their men as well as what extend of "personal sacrifice" they are ready to offer that matters.

My observation of the current batch of top earners, not in order of income, are:

• Xi Xi (pretty enough, very good at pleasing men, able to juggle 3 of the biggest spenders in DC at the same time, currently back to Chongqing for vacation)
• Xiang Xiang (not a natural beauty coz of cosmetic surgeries, only supported by Uncle Sam, returning home to Chongqing today to see her "dying" grandmother)
• Xiao Yi (in her mid 20s and had seen better days, by nature a very nice woman, contract extended till mid 2009)
• Yan Ni (I'm still trying to figure out what so many rich men see in her, contract extended for 2 years and in her early 30s)
• Sammi (very nice gal even though not very pretty, contract ends this Friday, key supporter is a man from a renown ex-banking family)
• Cherry (knows how to cultivate buddy-buddy relationship with men, very outgoing personality, a nice gal who takes care of her colleagues and friends, contract ends next week)

On the other hand, the prettier and younger new-comers over the past 2 months are struggling to survive, many are already contemplating leaving and some had resigned officially. We'll probably see the reduction of performers by 1/3 by March 2009. Anyway, the singer-manageress will be in China in 2 weeks' time to recruit new singers to replace the ones leaving.

The singer you mentioned is Xin'er, who was already a KTV gal before signing up as a DC singer. So she's simply going back to her old trade.

Yesterday, I went to Peach KTV , left ard 9.30pm, when going out, wah saw many singers outside the entrance, seem that the quality not bad, quantity also increase, maybe brothers who are keen in hanging flower joints can venture on this place.

Yestesday surprisingly that full hse during std hse not sure whether they offer free "Yu sheng" that attract customers, all the singers.

Haha..Not consultant, good observer and old timer and regular to DC..

ManSGP, appreciate some guidance from keen observer like you. I have friend who is debating returning as singer. I told her based on my observations (which are much more limited than many contributers to this thread) that she needs to improve on several dimensions, in terms of pure performance:
> Somewhat more emotion during singing. It seems those who act abit more like HK singers get flowered more
> Some movement and rhythm during singing, far short of dancing
> More smiling while on-stage, less looking bored, as people like to hang singers that look friendly

Not sure if above makes that much of a difference or not. The other aspect where I did not know how to give guidance was how to deal with customers. Is it generally more flirtatious? Is it more fawning on customers? Tell more jokes or just laugh harder at theirs? I know what works w/ me probably not the same for many others (eg while we all like our egos stroked, if they lay on the BS too much I don't like that)

She knows ultimately the successful singers generally have to make 'personal sacrifice' as they need at least one main supporter. But if one customer won't hang enough, how to handle multiple men?

Any ideas I can pass to her appreciated!

Sad to say and to my observation, the quality of the singers' voice or performance do not really equate their income. Whilst some of the top earners can't even croak properly, the better singers / performers are not duly rewarded or appreciated for their performance. End of it, it comes back to how they keep their supporters entertained and coming back for more. There were / are a few who will sleep with anyone provided the price is right while there are some whom I know hardly even go out for meals with their supporters yet they are able to bind them.

I can't advise much as I don't ask them how do they keep their supporters from returning but I see that little acts like occasional touching of the arms of the customers, feeding them fruits, pouring drinks, etc generally do make the customers feel good. I have generalised the customers into 3 main groups; the insecure, the egoistics, and the followers.

There is no SOP on how to tackle the customers but I have advised some of the singers to first profile their customers and find out what tickles them and then feed their wants and needs (except bedding them of course).

I know of customers who like to be assured they are good looking, nevermind that they are not there to bed the singers but just want the assurance and attention (probably married a ugly fierce woman). There are some who can't stop talking about themselves and how good they are (probably impotent that's why needs the ego boost), and all the singers have to do is to listen and agree with these men. There are also some customers who waste no time in making indecent proposal at the very first opportunity.

including from the boss and colleague - only $3500.

However, one who can't sing and dance, got followers - Those maybe
rich man with tons of $$$ to throw, one night show time - $10,000/

Its a matter of mind game how you entertain your customer! and play
your cards right, you get your carrot even you don't sing well, this is

Thanks Mansgp and k9696 for input. I don't want to steer her wrong, sounds like i made usual mistake of generalising too much from myself. in fact twice at DC i've hung singers who I didn't find pretty but just enjoyed their performances. both were reasonably popular that nite so I assumed others were doing it for that reason. But we all define beauty in different ways

Interesting ManSGP you know some successful singers who never bed customers. For the girls who refuse to compromise there, I'm glad for them. My friend thought every successful singer at her joint did, but that may have just been an assumption, though I suspect it was true b/c their joint was not as successful as DC or HC. Maybe again I just extrapolated from myself--if I hang big I do want to sleep w them!

Just enjoy listening to the singing if it is good.
Don't bother about the money throwing antics of the super rich, normal rich or pretend-rich.
Did it occur to you that even the big-flower hangers are in their own way, losers?
Maybe they were once the cream of society and now the family fortunes have fallen. Like some one said, from ex-banking family. But they still got more than the common man on the street (you and me, lah). So they throw to soothe an ego in tatters.
