All six of us sat on the same row, each served by SYT ... ger came, touch touch, unzip, clean didi with wet towel, bbjj till cim

Till today, all of us still talking about tis crazy kinda experience ... priceless .

Frustrated because I can't find someone today to blow me.

1) Anyone got a good driver to recommend?? Preferaby able to speak chinese or at least able to understand bulk of it?

2) Anyone knows what kind of plug vietnam use? Same as Singapore? Does hotel provide adpator sockets?

3) How much USD should i change in SG 1st? I planning to bring SGD 1,000 to HCM (hotel and food by company)

Palace - open, closed, open, closed --currently closed.

Q bar - shuttered up fairly recently

Metalic - gutted pretty recently -- reopening? not sure, but certainly non-existent at the moment

VIVAS - has been history a long time now

Canary - not sure--there was a New Canary up in that area that is now history, need to double check this address to see if this "Old Canary" may still be intact (or they could be one and the same, in which case they're both history) My hopes not high. New Canary wasn't very good, btw.

BOTTOM LINE - now a Japanese restaurant

Vasco’s - moved to a courtyard off Hai Ba Trung, around corner from its old location

Medusa - changed name to Zeus a few yrs back and supposedly has cleaned up and reduced staff drastically

Shadow Pub - reopened at a new location, but then that new one closed too -- pretty sure it's gone for good now

Mưa rừng - was a pile of rubble for some time, and is now being turned into a high rise. In its hey dey it was a completely ordinary disco.

123 - it's an empty lot now, the entire building is gone. It was more a place for live acts than to meet any girls. Currently more of a place to find small stones and dust.

But this list has some real out-of-the-way spots on it. These ones in D6, D10, Tan Binh, etc. might be worth finding. Hopefully many are are still around.

Hmmmmm I dun know what happen... but it sounds serious.....Anyway ban him lor.. We are here so far away from home... Better to make more friends than enemies...

It's heartening to hear different opinions about Vietnam and for opinions and perspective to be shared.Maybe i share another perspective and i look forward to the floor's input as well

Firstly, i need to sharethat Commercial is never the issue as it's transactional and it is just always about agreeing about the price:value ratio. However,between Thailand and Vietnam, Thailand has already an established system in place that seems so awesome.

My disappointment with Vietnam is not so much along the commercial scene but rather the non commercial end. In Singapore, thailand, indonesia etc.., you will meet ladies who will go home with you without the monetary expectations becasue, at the end of the day, they are independent and is also looking for good time. Any of you guys who have been to Balaclava in Sing or bars like Prop Bar/Curve is Thailand will know that the foreplay starts with the 1st whisky. If you are in Singapore and have not experience a sensual liason from happy hours at balacalava, then pls save the airfare to HCMC becasue that is a well know setting for professional bankers/marketing executives/etc.. to get their fix.

The challenge with Vietnam is that it is still a developing economy. At the end of the day, girls(majority at least) who hang around in bars is there for a economic reason. No working professional will blow 60 000 to 80 000 dong for a drink in a bar when they have pending obligations at home. They will save the money....think Singapore about 25 years ago, how many of our parents or older relatives spend earn money on drinks? Little i say. Hence, at the end of the day, the girls in Vietnam will "need " to accept your goodwill(whether it is money or the illusion of a prospective relationship). For that reason l, i go for the expat market as these ladies are independent and if they go back with you, it's becasue they want fun too! At the end of the day, there is limited difference whether you go to bars in district 10, thu duc or district 1. If a Vietnamese girls has to go to a bar, it is usually for for pratical reasons shared above. It will probably take another 5 years before we see a breed of soshisticated non commercials girls as the majority in these places.

When i say thai girls, i mean non commercial thai girls...rather girls in thailand who have reached a certain level of financial independence or mindset where havin fun is quite acceptable. And that means, when you ask them to take the evening to your place after the drinks and dancing, it is very much accepted as extension of the fun you had during the evening.

I made this comment about vietnam after 1 year becasue i think these are the soft nuances which i have observed as very poignant differences. Seriously, with a bit of conversation, a smile and some confidence, one may not need to resort to commercial. But hey, i still recognize different strokes for different man.

At the same time, i do believe i i have invested much time to explore Saigon beyond the traditional D10, D1, D5 ,D3 and at the same time at the social events around Saigon. Usually i am the only Singaporean in a face of a huge expat community. No disrespect to very senior individuals who have been in HCMC but i believe, this is an area which still not very explored by Singaporeans. I like to encourage Singaporean to go to not just bar, but go to events. Go to Chateu Glamour events at lush or Viet Moi nights at Xu Bar or Flaunt parties at Bounce or even DoSe. Touch your heart and ask, how many of us have gone to these events or at challenge the comfort barrier to try new things. If you guys want to find out, just search them on facebook. You will know what i am saying.

If you guys wanna go to nice place for some food and some spa by the river, take a ride to An Phu(District 2) Bring your girls for a evening cocktail at the Deck at 33 Nguyen U Di or go to 195 Thao Dien. Also, there are a couple of beautiful "desperate housewifes" in the evening and nice expat ladies always chilling out. So , draw up that confidence, put on that smile and close the deal to make us Singapore dude proud. Subjugate and conquer beyond one comfort zone of commercial Viet girls. And even if you want to get a viet girl, set the bench mark higher. Some say long hair dictionary but i say long leg dictionary(models)

I really think we as Singaporeans something compromise on our self beliefs. Maybe because we are constrain by circustances but we tend to just settle for commercial. What i really hate is when i see ang moh with less "liao" than many of us being more garang than us. And while they score with the real hotties in Vietnam, most of us here are contented with a discussion of 100 000k handjobs.

I just want to encourage us to more garang and as we grow in our confidence, maybe we can really be a change agent in Vietnam social scene!

Lastly, i overheard this from a fellow Singaporean who summarized between Singaporean girls, Thai girls and Vietnamese girls

Singapore girls are like doctors, really professional and get you well when you are sick but so clincial that it loses it attractiveness. Still you stick with them for life for praticial reasons.

Vietnamese girls are like physio-therapist. Becasue they nurse you back to health, you feel you have a bond with them.

Thai girls are like masseues, they do absolutely nothing for your health but then, you can't help it and still go back for your massage no matter what!

Was out at Lush and FTV bar this weekend. One thing - DEAD. Im not sure where the expat crowd went to, but honestly there were just 1 or 2 desperate old fogeys looking to hit 2nd base. And not to mention, some really obnoxious local vietnamese. (i mean who wears a sleeveless wife-beater to a lounge?)

Anyways, from what i know, seems most expats here are married with children. Perhaps the small segment that you were referring to, are fairweather tourists who make seasonal trips. And from my experience, you must be really a ladies man Tuyen coz Japanese and Korean chicks are not that much into Asian looking dudes especially in foreign lands. This is a fact that my Japanese and Korean female friends attest.

FTV is pretty cool. Just too many poseurs and kids. Somehow, i do miss the Parisian and Singaporean club scene. Good music at least...

Today had an superb encounter or should I say 2 encounters...Chat up 2Korean ladies working as Cabin Crew for XXX Airlines...
