Condoms are not 100% effective and offer very little protection against viral stds such as Herpes and Warts which are transmitted by skin to skin contact via areas not covered by the condom... eg the base of the shaft of the penis and the scrotum area.

If you want to avoid catching STDs, don't indulge in commercial and casual sex. It is quite risky.
