Re: Sungai Golok, Southern Thailand

4/8/2011. Took a taxi costing RM75 from the airport in Kota Bharu to Rantau Panjang. Dropped by and saw a friend in town who later drove me in his motorbike and let me off near the Malaysian immigration whereby i bypassed without using my passport. Walked along the Harmony Bridge with Sungai Golok below that seperates Malaysia and Thailand.

Its good to be back in Sungai Golok. A place where my cheong experiences started in LOS, over 20 years ago. I have not been in Sungai Golok for over 16 years. Fond memories of my two tiraks, Ah Lin, Ah Pom and other excellent and pathetic encounters with the various ladies, good and bad OKTs, farms, bars, discos, lady boy shows, hotels, etc in Sungai Golok.

There are no changes in Harmony Bridge. Next bridge which is 50 meters away is the railway bridge which me and a few friends crossed without stamping our passports at 3am Malaysian time. We had to meet the comander in chief of the Malaysian Army stationed in the camp. Talked cock with him for an hour, who later asked a patrol of troops to escort us via the railway bridge from the army camp into Sungai Golok. Pretty dangerous, walking on the railway slidings at night. On the other side, which was unguarded, we took the motorbikes to Genting Hotel.

Harmony Bridge was closed, no sampans to cross over at that time. We can wade across the small river to Sungai Golok but instead we took another way.......via the railway bridge by getting to know the comander of the Malaysian Army camp. Very exciting, loh but one of my friends nearly shit and was afraid when crossing the railway bridge. He was damn afraid that he may slipped and fell into the river below !!!.

The hotels is Sungai Golok are the following:

1. Genting Hotel on Asia Road with massage parlour, disco, barber, snooker, restaurant, swimming pool. This is the closest hotel to the immigration. Rooms are now a bit dated now and no XXX channel on TV. No safe deposit box in rooms. Big conference room on the top floor. Got enough parking in front of the hotel.

Used to have an excellent restaurant when i frequent Sungai Golok last time. Excellent shows by Thai puyings and puchais with live band. Every time we sat at a table, many puyings swarmed our table. My friend bonked a singer for free in her room. Damn, how lucky for him !!!.

2. Marina Hotel on Charoenkit Road with Mona Liza massage parlour, Billboard Super Club Disco, Mikado Karaoke, massage parlour, a closed barber, snooker parlour with 5 tables and with drinks counter, an unused and dirty swimming pool because the boss refused to fix the broken filteration system, Meridien restaurant with stage whereby you will be entertained by Thai singers. The Sky Lounge where i previously seen several syt Russians gyrating is now closed and is now converted to get bird nests from swiflets !!!.

Rates for single and double are RM73 to a suite that will cost RM180 ( its a double room joining to another room that is a lounge ). No safe deposit box or XXX porn on TV in the rooms. Got a full mini fridge with beers, soft drinks, etc. Got small parking spaces inside the hotel.

3. Grand Garden Hotel on Prachawiwat Road with more expensive massage parlour, a closed Beijing Karaoke, and a nice swimming pool and restaurant. Rooms are much smaller than Marina Hotel. Small bathroom. Lousy air conditioning. Also got a full mini fridge. No XXX porn on TV but got better and more channels than Marina Hotel. With WiFi. Looked real good from the outside but rather not so good on all the 4 floors where the rooms are located. Dirty carpeting, small lift, rather dark, etc. Hardly any parking in the hotel.

Located rather far away from the immigration crossing but next door to the farms on two roads and on a side road. Rates are RM 60 to RM 186 ( rooms with round bed, multiple mirrors on walls and on the ceiling ).

To be continued:
