Can we request their recent results of their health screening beforehand?
Geylang? And other little areas?

I am not too sure if this is correct cos I was told by doc the last time i went to do HIV test, there are some test that is meant to detect for the virus itself and that kind of test they normally have a window period...but there are those test that can detect in a month after exposure and this test actually not testing for the virus but rather the antibodies against the virus..reasoning being, once a body is infected by any virus it will immediately start to build a block of defense by producing antibodies...

those HIV test kits are indeed testing for the specific antibodies produced by your body in reaction to the virus. And your body needs to have a certain window period to react to the virus and produce those antibodies, and producing enuff to be detectable.

Re: HIV screening info

From what I've understand from legal Geylang WLs, their HIV and STD screening policy are as follow:

First six months : Once every month
second year : Once every 3 months.

Any bros out there can clarify this ?

The window period varies depending on the individual and the type of HIV test. According to the CDC:

"Most HIV tests are antibody tests that measure the antibodies your body makes against HIV. It can take some time for the immune
system to produce enough antibodies for the antibody test to detect, and this time period can vary from person to person. This
time period is commonly referred to as the “window period.” Most people will develop detectable antibodies within 2 to 8 weeks...

"...Another type of test is an RNA test...The time between HIV infection and RNA detection is 9–11
days."

Re: HIV screening info

According to one of the world's leading authorities on STI's:

"NAAT and PCR are the same thing. This test and the p24 antigen test both are ways to test for the presence of HIV in the blood. Of the two tests,
PCR/NAAT is the more accurate one; all by itself, a negative result any time more than about 2 weeks after exposure is virtually 100% proof against HIV -- i.e. I agree with Dr. Hook's statement that negative results with both antibody and PCR at 4 weeks would be definitive. (NAAT is the test blood banks use on all donated blood to make sure there is no transfusion related HIV in the US -- and there hasn't been a case of HIV in the US following transfusion for many years.)"

Re: HIV screening info

Hi Bros,

After 2 years of chiong-ing and tired of if, I've decided to quit. To further put my worries aside I've decided to go for a checkup at the AFA anonymous testing site in Kelantan Lane. I've never had unprotected sex before in my life. Have always play by the rules and condom broke once in a legal CAT150 house. The girl continued to work for 6 more months so I assumed I'm safe. But just to keep things clean, I've decided to go for a check.

Once there, I'm given a form and paid upfront $30. The bros there waiting most likely are like 70% of them are gays, very obvious HAHA. And they seems very open about it. The guy after me even flirt with the male receptionist WTF. So I opted the OralSwab and wait for my turn. Then I was called in and given some interview about my sex life. Then I swab it with the kit and was told to wait outside for 20 minutes. THAT 20 MINUTES FELT LIKE 20 YEARS.

After that I was called in. Was given a good news and I told the volunteer I want to keep the receipt to remind myself not to chiong anymore in my life because I want to keep my life simple. He gave me a wide smile and I left the room and the clinic. As I was walking out, I give out a long sigh of relief. I felt like the luckiest man on Earth yet at the same time I prayed for all the bros at the clinic to get the same good news as me also.

I urge all bros to check up in the anonymous clinic if you have any doubt. It might even help you to end your chiong-ing life style. No matter how long you wait, it's still the same. If your infected, you get to treat it early. If your negative, well good news for you and hope you will keep it that way by having safe sex only or simply have a monogamous lifestyle in the future. I will still be active in this forum. One is to advise fellow bros on HIV testing based on my experience. 2nd is to get some quality porn from those bros sharing JAV porno. Not chionging anymore so will keep fapping with those wonderful japanese girls.

Re: HIV screening info

however looking back, i think i forgot the time events, but somehow i remembered i was hit by bed bug rash. and around that same period i was down with a heavy flu and lethargic. thats were the symptons. suddenly these flashes in my head. i tot shiT, i m a gone case. I cried for 2 nights. went to temple to pray ask for advice also came out very bad.

i dare not go check up. everynight just surf net for more informations and cooped myself in the room. i became paranoid. i planned what sld i do if i got it. I planned to go for self test kit at JB or Shenzhen, i just dared not go for local check up. Understood a hiv carrier has about 10yrs or more to live, i even plan how i sld perish at the 10th yr. Things are really bad, when i came to remember somehow my family members seem to have rashes and flu at around my same time. I broke down as i could hear my two nephews playing outside my room. And suddenly also my 2mth gf text me said she suddenly got fever. omg!!!

Re: HIV screening info

if to be a hiv positive was bad, to spread to your love ones was unthinkable. it was too much to take. I decided to go for checkup the very next day for my love ones. of course i didnt tell anybody anything.

went to Cambridge Clinic Kreta Ayer Road. Close at 2pm. ask for no i/c one.

went into the doc room for oral swab. i had prepared for the worst. i broke down and poured everything to the doc at the 20min wait. the doc is a good man. he is understanding and keep console me. it came out negative.

i was like ******* ... tears stilll flow down from my eyes. i gave the doc a firm handshake and kept thanking him. after ... went to the nearest chinatown temple kneel down and pray for a solid hr.

Thank You GuanYinPusha - - i dunno its a test or a chance. and of course promised to be a better person.

Re: HIV screening info

Hi bro,

Thanks for the recommendation. Did my test this morning at Dr. Tan's clinic. He is very friendly and will talk to you while waiting for the results, so you feel less stressed. Also, very little patients in the morning (at least today) so I was able to get the test done immediately.
