I believe strongly that you have written yourself off based on money or category before any girl even has. You need to be selfish and invest in yourself first. Yes setting realistic expectations is important. But this stupid system is not easy and no one will give you an easy time. So you must first win over yourself. I believe that if you put in effort to improve your character from within, the rest of your problems will start going away. Its not easy and it wont happen overnight. Just like weight losing. When a person who has been fat for 3/4 of his life starts losing weight from effort, his whole outlook of life will change for the better too.
Granted your exposure/experience so far, I do not blame you for having such a cynical view of the world. But you should keep in mind that views and realities are ultimately different things. It is just like the phrase, "Hope for success, prepare for failure", be it whether you are an optimist or pessimist.

1) why marriage seems secondary, third or even no priority in the lives of many younger gen in sg(mid 20s to mid 30s)? Cuz we are super duper westerned liao so why get married? To guys, cuz of women charter, so marriage is a lugi( lose lose) outcome? I find that its not we are westernized but the mixture of both East Meets West. Yes we r westernized, but we still have our Asian roots that tie us down. We do not have the full-on western or eastern culture. We're stuck in the middle..Being western doesn't mean dont marry or have a dog instead of having a kid.. I find that woman's charter is made by some Ultra-Femminist that is just out of her mind...but I would love to get married some day...to a local, to someone foreign, it doesn't matter...chemistry matters most to me...hehehe.. 2) cant marry or settle in sg cuz garmet say we cannot retire and we must work like mad so cant haf baby? Cannot marry? maybe...I find that most Singaporeans live in "what if's"..what if i go out and venture myself, would I be able to make it? I like the girl I see at the bar and I would wanna pick her up, what if she rejects me? If we dont venture, we would only make 2-2.5k a month..maybe more when we grow older...but think abt this, cars and housing r going up, our pay isn't should it be time we take risks when we r younger? and know that "ok..this is my limit" u wouldn't know where your limits r till u reach it... I dont find that marriage is the end of sweet bgr...I find that its the geography is making things boring...u have to agree that singapore is small..I lived overseas and had a gf then..I was poor so I could only bring her to places that r free or cheap..in the time spend together, our relationship is flourishing cuz we had beaches to visit, museums to see, farmers' market to go to, festivals on the street to attend...Singapore's beaches r dirty, polluted and hot, museums r not free, farmers' market are imported "fresh produce" aimed at the richer, affluent consumers where as the ones i've visited are by the farmers who pluck or harvest their product the day itself and sell it at a reasonable price(free samples too)..I dated some ladies in Singapore and I personally found it hard cuz there r very few places I can bring them... 3) lastly, maybe cannot marry sg female or male coz of other kind of reasons? Lol... I find that Singaporean ladies are really sweet and nice..but the last time I dated someone local was 4-5 years ago...I dont know..things might have changed but recently I've been meeting a string of weird ladies where they have boyfriends and they r not happy and they r shopping around his back! Maybe its just my bad luck...but I still keep my doors open.. :-)

Just get used to it i will say, i already cant be bothered to tok about sillypore liao, all are negative to me lol be it politics , social and other issues. U can say i am spoilt for saying this but garment can be better i will say. Sg veri small, how gov manage our country will impact social norms, culture and our mentality so easily. Things will just get more expensive(this yr, ur bak chor mee in most places will hit 4 bucks permanently i think), and marriage is very tough for we men cos the financial side of living in sg puts unnecessary stress on us and acts as a deterrent gradually. If your wife is so understanding and nice to not to compare u to FTs or higher earning sillyporeans, and dun mind u drive toyota and ur hdb flat and ur ntuc insurance and ur posb card and ur diploma from poly, then probably a blissful life awaits u in sg. If not, be brave enuff to face the issues and foresee divorce and social problems( of cos i am not saying any marriage is perfect but when u expect more from both parties, there's bound to be more pressure and unhappiness when disappointment seeps in.... i being a realist here, not pessimistic lah...)

I wish i was the Billionaire Playboy but I aint...hahaha I would wanna point this out to u... When I was living in Cali, I realized that half the time when i mention Singapore, no one knows where it is..and when I tell them that its in between Malaysia and Indonesia, they would say there is nothing there...which I found was pretty funny... Think abt this..be thankful that our education system is good...y? In Taiwan, there r too many people with Degrees and Masters. Having a Masters here is a huge deal but in Taiwan, having a Masters is like having a degree..there r plenty of them around..I once wanted to move to Taiwan. But when I realized how bad the economy was, I didn't wanna move...if I did, my pay check would b TWD$22,000 which equates too abt SGD$950! Yes, Taiwanese food is cheap but so is Singapore's food! I'm saying in general..but the thing is housing in taipei is as expensive as over in Sg and there is no BTO also..hahaha...but dont get me wrong, I'm actually a product of the system's reject..there r pros and cons... anyway, dont look down on toyota ah...the New GT 86 looks really sweet....saving up to buy one...hahaha...but all in all...i would say that i would work in singapore but retire in a western country...

Talking abt de rent, unless u stay condo or wad, stay their normal hse( 2 to 3 rm flat) cannot be like sgd rental got 1,500 to 2,500 sgd per mth. Its equals to max 1k sgd in taiwan if i am not wrong. If u earning 1500-2000k sgd in taiwan, u can save up money still. In singapore , 2k cant save much wif the cpf crap. So overall, its cheaper, oh ya i went clubbing, i taiwan its 30 plus sgd, free flow liquor or beer, buffet style, in singapore, ard same price entrance, 2 small fucked up bourbon or tequila. Talk abt 7 eleven, fyi, ximending price for drinks like beer or soft drinks is 1.00-1.50bucks sgd(bottled ones and green tea 1.5 litee possible to get this price) . In orchard, i super anti 7 eleven. Why? A can of coke is $1.80 sgd. Lets talk abt cab, frm orchard to paya lebar, a less than 20 min ride during midnite charge is 13 bucks sgd. in taiwan, a 30 minute ride ard taipei during midnight is slightly cheaper than sg price(very possible cuz midnight charge veri low). Outside korea, japan , i can go on further abt our neighborhood countries on how cheaper than sg they can be( hell, hk on par wif sg but their train service super tok kong and their food can get cheaper outside city compared to sg). I lived like a poor man so i can tell u singapore is never cheap( u say back in 1998 maybe cheap)! Lol go gardens by de bay and art museum i need to pay ar? Wtf i go taiwan museum and garden see see most prolly free lol... Oh ya or those sillyporens earning 1k before cpf one, most flocked to jb to stay. Why? Spore in last ten years become ridiculously expensive. If u look at the happiness index of sillyporeans( lets face it we are not uneducated whinners.), our country rank in last three of asia if i am not wrong. I am so putting on my hongbao money to say tt sillypore is the fking most expensive country in SEA.
