I have a friend in HCMC. While it's true that we have a romantic notion between us, I know well enough that I'm not going there to find a wife or coming home married or any thing like that. I respect her and she's nice, and she likes me, and a future together is an option if it's a good match. Our conversations thus far have not been anything except good caring friendly and warm chat & video, she's well-educated and well-travelled, and there's been nothing hearty about sex talk between us, though she teases sometimes. I am definitely not inspired by chivalry and feel no "urge" to save her from anything. She is a grown woman, educated and employed, and as far as I'm concerned I'm smart enough to know that my 'hand' is an easier way to go than sex with a stranger.
I have a clear sense that a 41 year old single Vietnamese woman has her cultural influences bearing on her/us. That is "sex doesn't happen before marriage" in order to avoid the (culturally perceived) disrespect of a prostitute. I also recognize the manipulative power women feel they can exert on a man with their sexuality and shaming men. My question to you is this: Will a Vietnamese woman pursue sex and enjoy it like a normal woman, in a way familiar to me as a Westerner? I mean, any woman is an organism like any man, and pleasure is as pleasure does. But if we move naturally in to a sexual relationship (my tubes are tied, my plan is condoms), is she going to be all passive and "dutifully serving" the "needs" of her man, instead of following her organic passions naturally? Or, should I expect a fully passive "recipient" kind of thing? I mean I want to have a partner who's equally inspired and fired up at the right time, so I don't feel like "I am going in to debt with her" by having sex with her?
Any thoughts about this from any and all?
