No it won't necessarily give you better results (only higher price!).
Geylang lorong 16 used to be good. Many Thai lb and some of them were great. However, I could not find any recently. Looks like they have disappeared since they built the condo there. Maybe ppl here have more info.
Otherwise, Desker / Rowell is still a good bet. The Thai lb of house 79 particularly. Had some good experience with some Malay lbs as well but it's quite rare (used to be one called Sara who was nice).
Best is to give it a try. You might not always be lucky but at least you won't waste as much money as with those online.
